Did you catch the report on the BBC South Today news last night, reporting on broadband internet speeds in our area?
Apparently, speeds are varying across the south and in our area, from the superfast 100mb speeds some people can receive, to much slower average speeds going as slow as only around 1mbps.
From our experience, the current fastest download speed is provided by Virgin Media, closely followed by BT Infinity. These two services mainly rely on very fast and widely trumpeted fibre optic technology. The main problem with slow speeds tends to stem from older ADSL connections using old copper phone lines which struggle to give good connection speeds.
